On Wednesday February 15th 2017, Bridgewater State University’s Chapter of SEAM hosted a College of Education and Allied Studies Alumni Panel. The members on the Panel consisted of both current and former BSU students in their first and early years of teaching, students who completed a portion of their Student Teaching in England and Ireland, and students who have completed the Block and are currently Student Teaching.
The Panel gave invaluable advice and shared many of their experiences with the audience. The conversation between the audience and the panel during the Q&A portion flowed naturally and consistently, and the answers the Panel provided were not only extremely knowledgeable and insightful, but genuine as well. A wide variety of topics was covered–financing Study Abroad, what to expect in the Block and Student Teaching, struggles faced during first years of teaching, what they would change if they could go back, and what they recommend doing for students prior to the Block and Student Teaching.
